We are a proud and ever growing family whose ancestors immigrated from Czechoslovakia to the U.S. through Ellis Island back in 1884 with Andreas and Anna Matta Vanyo's son, Joseph, when he was 17. He married Helen in Pennsylvania and had his two eldest sons Andrew & Joe before they migrated to Minnesota. Originally our name was spelt Vaño, which is the Slovak spelling. It's pronounced the same, but was later "Hungarianized" to Vanyo.
